On June 27, 2024, the Department of Civil Registration and Census (DCRC) and the Royal Insurance Corporation of Bhutan Limited (RICBL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement allows RICBL to retrieve details of deceased individuals through the G2C portal via the National Digital Identity (NDI) system.
Previously, citizens were required to submit a hard copy of the completed death registration form, death certificate, and related documents to process Rural Life Insurance (RLI) claims. With the new MoU in place, RICBL will now access these details directly from the G2C portal. To do so, they can select the ‘RLI claim for Death’ option when logging into the NDI app under the Death Registration tab.
This development removes the necessity for citizens to submit hard copies of death registration forms and related documents, simplifying the RLI claim procedure. This milestone is expected to greatly benefit citizens by enhancing efficiency and convenience in accessing RLI claims.
